April 24, 2007* – HP announced today that they signed a deal to acquire Arteis, the Linden, Utah-based parent company of Logoworks and Logomaker. Logoworks offers logo creation services as well as full marketing and identity materials, while Logomaker is a do-it-yourself program for users to create their own logos. HP’s plans are to expand the company’s current services and link them to independent print service providers for full-service logo and marketing materials production. The printing and computing giant plans to offer these services at a fraction of the market cost, making design services affordable for a wider range of small business owners. No financial terms were available at press time. This planned buyout is the latest small company to be acquired by HP, following on the heels of last month’s acquisition of Tabblo, the online image-sharing company, detailed here. This is part of HP’s stated financial plan of acquiring small companies in lieu of large-scale mergers or acquisitions.
