Kodak Announces New Printers With Low Cost Ink: The ESp3250 and ESP5250

Kodak has announced two new low cost all in one printers that they claim have the lowest  ink costs in the industry. The new $130 ESP 3250 and $170 ESP 5250 both use seperate black and color ink cartridges, which cost $9.95 and $14.95 respectively.

Both printers use the same ink cartridges, which use a pigment based ink. The color cartridge contains 5 inks. Kodak claims that the new technology the printers user (which they call Kodacolor) will produce 'lab-quality' prints. The company claims that the new inks could save a user up to $110 a year, but did not release a cost per page for the printers.



The ESP 3250 will cost about $130 and includes a 1.5' LCD screen, and is capable of printing up to 30 black and white pages per minute or 29 colors Kodak also claims that a borderless 4 x 6 photo print can be dine in 29 seconds. It can print up to 8.5' x 14' prints and also includes a 1200dpi scanner (but no auto sheet feeder) and supports SD and MemoryStick memory cards.


The $170 ESP 5250 has a 2.4' LCD screen and includes support for 802.11g Wi-Fi, so it can be used for wireless printing on a home or office network.  It also includes a 1200dpi scanner that can copy sizes up to 8.5 x 11.7'. The printing speed is the same: 28 pages per minute for color and 30 for black and white.
