May 14, 2007 – Canon announced today the US release of the iPF5100 and the iPF6100, two new wide format professional photo printers able to print 17-inch wide and 24-inch wide prints, respectively. These printers were announced at PMA Australia last week. Both printers come with a roll-feed unit. The iPF6100 comes with an LCD display panel. The iPF6100 will be available in June 2007 for $3,495. The iPF5100 will be available in third quarter 2007, with no retail price available in the press release. These printers are equipped with a LUCIA ink set of 12 pigmented inks, including Red, Green, Blue, Cyan, Photo Cyan, Magenta, Photo Magenta, Yellow, Black, Matte Black, Gray, and Photo Gray. Black and gray inks have been reformulated for better adhesion and scratch resistance. Inks are applied via a dual-head, 30,720-nozzle system in 4-picoliter droplets.  The iPF5100 and iPF6100 also come with a new Printer Driver 2007, which includes Digital Photo Front-Access, a software program for organizing images from digital cameras. Also incorporated is the new Kyuanos color management technology to adjust color output for different lighting. Color calibration allows users to manage color across devices. Canon is also releasing Poster Artist 2007, a new software program designed to work with their 12-ink printers. The program simplifies the poster-creation process, including an Auto Design Feature and a template library. Poster Artist 2007 will retail for $799.
