August 1, 2007* – Canon Japan has introduced the Selphy CP520 to the market. This small, dye sublimation printer supports four paper sizes and can print via PictBridge camera connection, USB to computer connection, and Bluetooth and wireless print adapter to mobile phones and cameras. Postcard-sized images print in 58 seconds. The unit is currently available only in Japan, and no prices were published at press time.  The Selphy CP520 measures 7.1-by-5.0-by-2.5 inches and weighs 32.3 ounces.Like the other Selphy dye subs, it features 300 x 300 dpi resolution and is intended for printing directly from a camera or computer. Credit-card-sized images print in just 31 seconds, L-sized prints in 50 seconds, postcard-sized in 58 seconds, and wide (card-sized) images in 70 seconds. Three ink layers provide the color and one overcoat layer protects the prints from liquid spills and fingerprints. The detachable paper cassette serves as both the input and out paper trays. The printer also offers Image Optimization, which automatically adjusts the brightness and contrast of poorly exposed images. More images and info can be found on Canon Japan’s website.
