The latest addition to Epson's PictureMate range is the Charm, a new compact photo printer. The charm is a comapct printer that measures just 9.1 by 6.7 by 5.9 inches when folded up. A 2.5-inch LCD screen is built into the top panel for image previews and menus. The lid of the printer also doubles as the paper input tray. Epson did not outline the printing system it usee, but they did claim that it can produce a 4 by 6 print in around 37 seconds, and that it has a print resolution of 5760 by 1440 dots per inch.

The ink and paper for this printer is supplied in a combination pack that can produce 100 prints, priced at $37.99 for glossy and $32.99 for matte paper. That works out at 37 or 32 cents a print: a very resonable cost for printers of this type. Several features for enhancing and editing images are included: images can be cropped and rotated, red eye removed and colors corrected. Support is also included for producing multiple copies of an image on one sheet or for printing contact sheets ofmultiple images.

The PictureMate Charm  is available now,  priced at $149.99.
