July 11, 2007* – Hahnemühle FineArt, one of the world’s oldest paper companies, announced a new fine art inkjet paper to be released in the fall of 2007. FineArt Baryta 325 will feature an "ultra smooth" glossy surface and is intended as a digital replacement for fine art baryta papers for traditional darkrooms. FineArt Baryta 325 is made from 100 percent alpha cellulose with a barium sulphate (from which the name Baryta derives) coating, which enhances the qualities of quality inkjet papers, including gloss, color gamut, sharpness, and high dmax (densest black). Hahnemühle touts the paper as excellent for black-and-white images because of the deep blacks, and "finest gray tones." This high-gloss paper rounds out the German company’s line of fine art papers, which include matte, semi-gloss and pearl papers. Beta testing of FineArt Baryta 325 is ongoing with professional photographers, and samples will be proffered at this fall’s photo shows, including PhotoPlus International in New York, Sonimagfoto in Barcelona, and Salon de la Photo in Paris.
