August 20, 2007 – Along with their other printer releases today, Canon announced three new business multi-function inkjet printers, the Pixma MX300, MX310, and MX700. All three models feature print, copy, scan, and fax capabilities. The MX700 functions as both a business printer and a photo printer and sells for $199. The MX310 and the MX300 sell for $149 and $99, respectively.

The Canon Pixma MX700’s business features include fax capabilities, networking, duplexing, and an auto document feeder. Print and copy speeds of 30 pages per minute (ppm) for black text and 19 ppm for color documents are very competitive with other major inkjet printers. Four individual colors (pigment black, cyan, magenta, and yellow) are sprayed through two-picoliter-sized droplets to create prints at up to 4800 x 1200 dpi color and 600 x 600 dpi black. A 1.8-inch LCD helps users navigate the printer’s menu. Users can connect cameras via a PictBridge connection or print their pictures directly from memory cards.
The CIS sensor on the MX700’s scanner can achieve 2400 x 4800 dpi, while the copy function can do 25 percent reductions and 400 percent enlargements. A 30-page auto document feeder facilitates copying, scanning, and faxing. The fax has a 100-page memory capacity and 40 speed-dial number locations.   The same basic design holds for the Canon Pixma MX310, including an auto document feeder. Both the MX310 and the MX300 utilize one black and one integrated color ink cartridge to achieve the same print resolution as the MX700. The MX310 and the MX300 can achieve print speeds of up to 22 ppm black and 17 ppm color. A two-line LCD display provides access to the menu, and a. PictBridge connection allows for direct printing from cameras, but no memory card slots are found on the MX310 or the MX300. The Canon Pixma MX300 sells for the economical price of $99. Compared to the other two models, it lacks the auto document feeder, and it has a scanning resolution of 600 x 1200 dpi, while the MX310 scans at 1200 x 2400 dpi. All models are available now through retailers.
