April 18th 2007* – Digital imaging company Xerox has big plans for 2007; the company has just announced 15 new printers for office and print shop users; more than the company announced in the whole of 2006. Xerox claims that his slew of new products is the result of a huge investment in research and development (R&D) last year; the company says they invested an impressive $922 million on R&D in 2006.

The new units range from printers for office use (such as the Xerox 4595 shown on the right, a 95 page per minute (ppm) multifunction device with a print resolution of 2400 by 2400 dpi) to high end systems for print shops, such as the Xerox Nuevra 288, which can produce an impressive 288 duplex images on 8.5 by 11-inch media per minute. The Nuevra 288 can also produce up to 6 million images a month; enough for even the largest print shops. The 4595 will be priced from $53,200, while the Nuevra 288 will set you back $460,000.

Xerox also announced new software for managing document workflow: their FreeFlow Print Server 6.0 and FreeFlow Process Manager MAX software will, they claim, allow large offices and print shops to more efficiently manage documents as they move through the production chain.
